Some Observations on Toxicity Tests of Antibiotics.

چکیده
Considerable difficulty has been experienced in interpreting the results of toxicity tests on certain antibiotics employing aqueous solutionsas recommendedby various Pharmacopoeias. The strain of mice as a possible factor influencing the results has been emphasised. Ionic concentration of the solutions and the rate of injection are other factor~ considered responsible for the immediate mortality in the strain of mice employed in these stud ies .

Effects of tylosin and nisin on canned food spoilage bacteria.
Many antibiotics have been screened for inhibition of sporeforming bacteria during the last 10 years in this laboratory. The effect of some of these antibiotics on canned food spoilage bacteria has previously been described (Denny and Bohrer, 1959). Recently, two antibiotics which eventually may be of use in food processing have been through a preliminary screening in this laboratory. These ant...

متن کاملEvaluation of Aerobic and Anaerobic Biodegradability and Toxicity Assessment of Real Pharmaceutical Wastewater from Industrial Production of Antibiotics
This study evaluates aerobic and anaerobic biodegradability and toxicity of a real pharmaceutical wastewater, which focuses on antibiotics production. Zahn-Wellens and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) methodologies were applied in order to verify the wastewater’s biodegradability and Microtox® analysis was performed for toxicity tests. Tests achieved more than 89% an...
متن کاملValidation of LAL test on some antibiotics: A study on the causes of different inhibitory effects
Validation process is a program for ensuring products with proven acceptable and predetermined specification. The LAL test used for detection of endotoxin in the sterile parenteral products is one of the tests that require validation. During this study, validation of 12 parenteral antibiotics including penicillin and cephalosporin have been done using gel clot method and obtained results which ...
